Daniel Wu has not made a Hong Kong film in 8 years
Released in 2012 and 2016, the COLD WAR (HONG JIN) film
series had decent box office and word of mouth. COLD WAR 2 even once
topped the Hong Kong Chinese language film box office. Yesterday the
film company announced that a prequel would be made and its 3 leads,
including Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho), Wu Kang-Jen and Terrance Lau Chun
Him. According to mainland document filings, the film would divide
into two productions, COLD WAR 1994 (HONG JIN 1994) and COLD WAR 1995
(HONG JIN 1995). The story would revolve the titular years.
The focus character in the film "Lee Man Bun" would traverse
between both sides of the law and swear to investigate the truth
behind the crime, but because the cast and the crew have signed
confidentiality agreements, who between Daniel, fresh out of the oven
Golden Horse Award Best Actor Wu Kang-Jen and rising film star Lau
Chun Him would play "Lee Man Bun" would have to be unveiled later.
Reportedly the film would begin production next week in Hong Kong
and construct a large scale set at the Shaw Studio.
Daniel since SKY ON FIRE (CHUNG TIN FOR) in 2016 has rarely
made Hong Kong film. This time completely because of the script and
sincerity he agreed to perform. Because the production would last 5
months, already settled in the U.S. he for work life balance would
commute between Hong Kong and the U.S. Aside from the three leads,
the film would also have many good actors like Gardner Tse Kwan Ho
and Fish Liew Chi Yu, Carlos Chan Ka Lok and Jeffrey Ngai Chun Sun.

Kelly Chen Wai Lam, Terrance Lau Chun Him, Fish Liew
Chi Yu and popular Thai star Thanaerng two nights ago attended an
event. Coming to Hong
Kong again, Thanaerng said that she missed Hong Kong's cuisine very
much. She would like to go to the theme parks and the museums to
appreciate the artwork. After her speech, Thanaerng got closer to
fans to sign autographs and take photos.
Lau Chun Him recently with Fish took part in the film TWILIGHT
OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING). He said
that he was very happy that the film has been selected by the Cannes
Film Festival and hoped to be able to attend personally. He also
said that this was their first official collaboration and joked that
they were very well matched. Liew Chi Yu even pointed out that for
this film she learned to butcher a fish. They also said that they
have never been to the Cannes Film Festival and would very much like
the opportunity. How would they choose if they would also have
business performance opportunities? Lau Chun him felt that work would
come first, but he of course would not hope for a schedule clash;
Liew Chi Yu very seriously said, "No, it's Cannes! It's like asking
me if I like Papa or Mama more. I am not choosing!" Unable to win
the Hong Kong Film Award Best Supporting Actress this year, Liew Chi
Yu said that the recipient Rachel Leung Yung Ting performed very well
and deserved the award. In addition no matter who won she should raise
a glass. Thus on the award night she went to 3 celebrations.

The Li Linlin and Patra Au Ka Man starred film ALL SHALL
BE WELL (CHUNG GUM YI HAU) two nights ago held a charity premiere. Li
Linlin received support from husband John Chiang Dai Wai, son John
Chiang Jr. (Chiang Cheuk Man), daughter Chiang Yi Lan and son in law
Raymond Cho Wing Lim. In addition the fresh out of the oven Best
Actress Jennifer Yu Heung Ying also showed her support for her friend
Fish Liew Chi Yu in person.
Li Linlin has not made a movie for over 30 years. Several
years ago during the pandemic she guest starred in the Nicole Kidman
starred series EXPATS. This time she mainly felt that the ALL team
was very professional, and the young actors now also had great
acting. Instead she was the "new comer", at first she was afraid
that she would be rusty and unable to meet demands from not acting for
too long. Luckily the director patiently explained so she was able
to absorb very quickly. In addition her husband John Chiang Dai Wai
supported her comeback. "Originally I was afraid that I would already
be out, my husband encouraged me and said that as soon as I would take
my mark I would be fine. In addition the film's subject was very
rare to examine social issues." Lin Linlin in recent years had hearing
problems and required a hearing aid, which she said did not affect
the production too much. "Maybe like at the premiere with more people
and noises, hearing would be more difficult. For the production as
soon as I took my mark I could be very focused." She revealed that
over a decade ago she had middle ear effusion, a canal was installed
in her ear but every few months it would have to be drained. Her
right ear hearing was worse and she has switched to using a hearing
aid.
As for her husband winning the Hong Kong Film Awards "Best
Supporting Actor", Lin Linlin felt that this award was a great
encouragement for her husband. Winning the award at age 77 was a
great reward for him; but because he was busy with a series, he
already celebrated with boss Louis Koo Tin Lok on the night of the
Awards. They would not celebrate again. What about their wedding
anniversary? She revealed that May 20th would be their 50th wedding
anniversary. He said that he would give her the award as the 50th
anniversary gift and has been praised as romantic. Lin Linlin said,
"He has never been romantic. I used to be very stubborn with holidays,
while he constantly forgot them. I would be upset, but he has trained
me to no longer be stubborn. Now he has become more romantic than me."
Au Ka Man said that she and Li Linlin had a lot in common.
They once studied at the same school, so they had an easier time
communicating. During the shoot they were also able to get into
character very easily and the collaboration has been very pleasant.
Liew Chi Yu and Leung Yung Ting took part in the film. They
both praised the script as touching. Did they have any daring scene
in the film? Leung Yung Ting joked that when the director asked them
to perform with elders like Li Linlin and Au Ka Man, it was already
rather daring.
Leung Yung Ting just won the Best Supporting Actress as the
favorite at the Hong Kong Film Awards, but she has not celebrated
yet. She wanted to again thank the cast and the crew for their
contributions. She was able to play the character in the film
because she completely relied the good team. Liew Chi Yu who did not
win Supporting Actress joked, as soon as they saw each other she
already used the promotional sign to hit Leung Yung Ting; but she was
completely convinced of her victory at heart.
The Hong Kong Cinema Day 2024 tickets went on
advanced sales yesterday. Carlos Chan Ka Lok as the event ambassador
appeared at many cinemas to help sell tickets, to thank viewers
who have lined up for the advanced sales at the cinemas. He also
intimately introduced the movies and the screening formats that people
would be able to enjoy that day. Many asked for a photo together, and
he fulfilled every request. He said, "I am very happy to see so many
people support this event, I thank everyone for lining up at the
movies early to get tickets. I hope viewers through this event would
be able to experience the VIP hall and other amenities and in the
future would go to the movies more."

Keung To's fans plan to celebrate his birthday at a theme park, but the date conflicts with the fan meeting date
MIRROR fans are often divided
Keung To's hand is numb from signing autographs, and jokes that he has to sign a few again due to how poor his handwriting is courtesy of on.cc
The popular guy group MIRROR starred film WE 12 (12
GWAI DOH) has been a hit. Seeing this, the company promoted it harder.
Earlier it announced the WE 12 group soul meeting on April 23rd. All
12 members would attend. Fans with designated day ticket stubs would
be able to participate in a lucky drawing for a chance to attend.
However, the event date happened to clash with the annual Keung To
birthday fan support activity and upset the "Keung Candies"!
The scheduling clash left many "Keung Candies" question
whether it is intentional since the fans announced the birthday
event first. They all commented on the official platforms, "The fan
club today sold out the theme park tickets, then you posted this.
The choice of date was really very strategic, not expecting Keung
Candies to attend at all. What group spirit would you be talking
about!" Some even condemned the company for deliberately making life
difficult for "Keung Candies". "All media knows Keung Candies would
have a large scale event, MKV (Makerville) too very thoughtfully chooses
this date to clash with your schedule. It's just having fun once a
year, but the company still intentionally put everyone between a rock
and a hard place." Some also questioned why it was chosen to take
place on Tuesday. "Why would it be so wonderful, holding a meeting on
a regular day." "Why would it choose this day out of so many?"
Many "Keung Candies" strongly supported the fan club's
birthday event. "The company in order to pump up the box office would
try every trick. The earlier Convention Center experience screening
was already a bloodbath, so were over 100 audience appreciation
shows." Some even called for a boycott. "Originally I was
considering going again to set more records, but now I can save it."
However, other fans felt that the scheduling conflict was purely
coincidental. Because coordinating all 12 members' schedules was
not easy, the other 11 members should not have to accommodate just
one. They thought "Keung Candies" were out of line. With "Keung
Candies" causing traffic jam that enraged Jeremy, other members' fans have
become growingly less than fond of "Keung Candies".
